Mundaring Weir - Perth - Western Australia

Photos of Mundaring Weir - Perth - Western Australia - August 2009. Mundaring Weir is a dam built in 1903 and currently supplies water to the Goldfields, some 700 Km away (435 miles), as well as to agricultural areas of Western Australia. At Mundaring Weir you can also find a spectacular expanse of water lying in the Helena River Valley and in the surrounding areas you can enjoy walking trails in the middle of virgin bush, covered with native plants and alive with animals and birds. Furthermore you will be able to enjoy idyllic scenery, picnic and barbecue areas and other great spots for a family outing. Another attraction is walking across the massive concrete Weir wall and be surprised by the great reservoir of water, also known as Lake C.Y. O'Connor. This lake is named after the Engineer-in-Chief of Public Works, Charles Yelverton O'Connor, who designed this great engineering project.
