A little about me

Here is something about myself in this "about me" page:

My name is Fernando Fidalgo. I was born in Portugal, lived in Angola (Africa) for 20 years, came to this country in 1989 and have naturalised Australian in 1991. In Perth, Australia,
I completed tertiary courses in Art and Design, majoring in painting (1994) and a Certificate of Information Technology at TAFE (1996). At the end of 2005, I completed a course at TAFE on "How to build a computer from scratch".

Background

My artistic background is painting (oils and acrylics) but I am currently more involved with Photography and Digital Art. I also build web sites and teach computers, specially web design and computer art.

Photography

I started taking digital photos years ago, but only recently I became more inclined to make it more than just an hobby. My kind of photography is the one that involves image manipulation, usually to enhance the details and colour of the best shots. For that I use a Nikon D60, Paint Shop Pro, graphic plugins and filters.

Computer paintings

In my old galleries I have a good collection of "computer paintings". To create them I used a wide variety of techniques, graphic programs and filters, and one of the methods employed is computer collage, that is, I use parts of different images to produce a new one. Famous pop artists like Robert Rauschenberg and Richard Hamilton have done the same, though not digitally.

Exhibitions

I have done a few exhibitions (oils, acrylics and drawings) in countries like Angola when I was very young and before 1975, Portugal between 1989 and 1999, Australia between between 1989 and 2005.
